Join a guided tour of the HedingerHolz AG sawmill to see how round timber is processed and further worked.

HedingerHolz AG looks back on over a century of history and is one of the largest sawmills in the region. Around 25 employees process timber sourced locally from sustainably managed forests wherever possible.

Impressive machinery, modern technology, the hum of activity and the scent of fresh timber make the tour a special experience. Discover the journey from round timber to the finished timber product and gain fascinating insights into timber processing.


Programme Visit the sawmill with your group or school class and get to know an innovative, regionally based company as well as the diverse career opportunities in the timber processing sector.

• Log yard: Sorting and grading of logs with a debarking station

• Sawmill: Tour of the machines in operation from a bridge above the machinery in the workshop

• Outdoor storage: A tour of the outdoor storage area and the climate-controlled drying hall, including a look at the heating system and drying chambers

• Further processing: An insight into the planing machine, length cutting and the production of packaging

: The machinery is not in operation at weekends or during off-peak hours . A flat-rate surcharge of CHF 180.– applies for a machinery demonstration outside normal working hours.
