On the road with Lukas Britschgi
He grew up here and feels at home here: the successful European figure skating champion Lukas Britschgi grew up in Schaffhausen and feels deeply rooted here despite his international career. He takes you on a very personal journey to his favorite places. Whether historic walls, vast forests or a view of the sky - Lukas Britschgi's favorite places show just how diverse the Schaffhauserland is. They tell stories of nature and culture, of movement and freedom. But for the European champion, they are one thing above all: a piece of home that accompanies him on all his journeys.
Munot & Lindli
Schaffhausen's centerpieces
The tour starts high up: the Munot, Schaffhausen's landmark. The round fortress from the 16th century towers above the rooftops of the old town. For Lukas, the Munot is a place for everyone - whether at the children's festival, the traditional Munotball or the atmospheric Munot openair cinema. The surrounding area is also full of memories for him: Numerous training sessions on the nearby sports field have made this place an important part of his childhood.
Just a few steps away is the Lindli, the idyllic Rhine promenade right by the water. In summer, Lukas likes to jump into the Rhine here for a quick dip or take a leisurely stroll along the banks. "The Lindli is pure relaxation for me," he says. "You can take a leisurely stroll here or spontaneously jump into the water."
Beringer Randenturm
Far-reaching views as far as the Alps
Off into nature. The Beringer Randenturm rises 650 m above sea level above Beringen and rewards you with an unparalleled view after climbing 136 steps. Those who climb the steps are rewarded with a sweeping view over the Klettgau and - on a clear day - as far as the Alps. For Lukas, this place is a place to take a deep breath: "The Randen is an ideal place for biking or hiking - a wonderful place to spend your free time."
Schmerlat airfield, Neunkirch
Take off with a view
Finally, Lukas' tour takes him to Schmerlat airfield on the edge of the forest in Neunkirch. The small glider airfield is a popular meeting place for pilots and aviation enthusiasts - and fascinates with its far-reaching views over the region and the spectacular take-off of the gliders into the sky. Whether you fly yourself or simply watch from the ground as the elegant aircraft glide silently into the sky: Here you can feel the magic of taking off and the boundless expanse of the sky. "I have many childhood memories of Schmerlat," says Lukas. "I often came here with my family to marvel at the air shows - this feeling of freedom still inspires me today."
Skates, ice and big dreams
Lukas Britschgi (17.02.1998) is a Swiss figure skater, born in Schaffhausen and always on the hunt for his next dream. His first time on the ice was as a small child. His mother was an ice dancer and J&S instructor at the time and got Lukas on the ice. Lukas currently spends up to 25 hours a week on the ice. His highlight so far? Clearly the gold medal at the 2025 European Championships. His next goals are the 2026 Olympics in Milan and the 2027 European Championships at home in Lausanne.
