On the road with Lukas Britschgi

Munot & Lindli

Schaffhausen's Heart

The tour starts high up: the Munot, Schaffhausen's landmark. The round fortress from the 16th century towers above the rooftops of the old town. For Lukas, the Munot is a place for everyone - whether at the children's festival, the traditional Munotball or the atmospheric Munot openair cinema. The surrounding area is also full of memories for him: Numerous training sessions on the nearby sports field have made this place an important part of his childhood.

Just a few steps further, you'll find the Lindli, the idyllic Rhine promenade right by the water. Here, in summer, Lukas likes to jump into the Rhine for a quick refreshment or stroll leisurely along the bank. “For me, the Lindli is pure relaxation,” he says. “You can take a leisurely walk here or spontaneously jump into the water.”

Beringer Randenturm

Panoramic view extending to the Alps

Into nature. The Beringer Randenturm rises to 650 m above sea level above Beringen and, after a climb of 136 steps, rewards visitors with an unparalleled view. Those who climb the steps are rewarded with a wide view over the Klettgau and – on a clear day – all the way to the Alps. For Lukas, this place is a spot to take a deep breath: 'The Randen is an ideal place for biking or hiking – a beautiful place to spend your free time.'

Schmerlat Airfield, Neunkirch

Take off with a view

Lukas's tour concludes at Schmerlat airfield, located at the edge of the forest in Neunkirch. This small glider airfield is a popular meeting point for pilots and aviation enthusiasts. It offers captivating panoramic views of the region and features the spectacular take-offs of gliders soaring into the sky. Whether you choose to fly along or simply watch from the ground as the elegant aircraft glide silently into the heavens, you'll feel the magic of flight and the boundless expanse of the sky. "I have many childhood memories associated with Schmerlat," Lukas shares. "I often came here with my family to admire the airshows – that sense of freedom still captivates me today."

Skates, ice, and big dreams

Lukas Britschgi (born 17.02.1998) is a Swiss figure skater, born in Schaffhausen, and always chasing his next dream. He first stood on the ice as a toddler. His mother, who was an ice dancer and J&S leader at the time, introduced Lukas to skating. Currently, Lukas spends up to 25 hours a week on the ice. His biggest highlight so far? Clearly, the gold medal at the European Championships in 2025. His next goals are the 2026 Olympics in Milan and the 2027 home European Championships in Lausanne.
