Schaffhausen Forest Cemetery
Media
The Schaffhausen forest cemetery, inaugurated in 1914, is a special place of peace and contemplation. Following the example of the Munich forest cemetery, the Munich city planning officer Grässel designed the site in part of the Rheinhard forest. Harmoniously embedded in the existing beech forest, various burial plots, family graves and works of art of all kinds can be found on an area of around 17 hectares. The entrance area is dominated by the striking funeral hall with crematorium. The urn niches and the grave site for the victims of the 1944 bombing are noteworthy. The forest cemetery has been named one of the 40 most beautiful parks in Switzerland.
Tip: many fireflies fly in the evening around the end of June
