Barbecue Area Neuburg Ruin
The barbecue area is located next to the Neuburg ruins.
The Neuburg ruins are the remains of a hilltop castle built in the 10th or 11th century in the canton of Schaffhausen. It is located in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, around 300 meters southwest of Wörth Castle on the Ottersbühl. The ruins are also known as the "robber's castle."
Today, the thick foundation walls of the trapezoidal core castle and two moats with an intermediate rampart are still visible. Alongside Wörth Castle and Schloss Laufen , Neuburg Schloss Laufen the third and least known castle on the Rhine Falls.
During excavation and conservation work carried out in 1935, numerous traces of fire were discovered. It is unclear whether this fire sealed the fate of the castle, which is not mentioned in any documents.
