The Museum im Zeughaus imparts knowledge about the history of Switzerland and its army at two locations: in Diessenhofen Ratihard 1 and in Schaffhausen in the historic buildings of the cantonal armoury.

Several permanent and special exhibitions and regular events address historical events and current topicswhich were or are of social, political, economic, or military significance for the development of Switzerland.
Special attention is generally paid to topics relevant to the region. The museum also presents its extensive collection of military and technical history artifacts in exhibitions and several display depots. The care and preservation of these artifacts are important conservation tasks. The approximately 50 wheeled and over 20 tracked vehicles are in working order and approved for road use. New is the exhibition on the history of anti-tank warfare.
