New winemaking family, old quality principles
Since 2017, the traditional Hallau winery has been owned by the Davaz family from Fläsch, who are passionate about wine. Since the beginning of 2019, the company has been operating under the new name Rimuss & Strada Wein AG. The Rimuss brand stands for non-alcoholic products. The Strada Wein brand stands for delicious wines and sparkling wines made from grapes grown in the fertile Schaffhausen Pinot Noir area. Thanks to the exceptional combination of microclimate, geology, and topography, wines of international caliber are grown on the Hallau terroir. The southern slope of the Hallau vineyard provides ideal conditions for Pinots full of character. The foothills of the Jura Mountains have heavy, clayey Keuper soils with a loamy top layer. In addition, the Rhine, which still flowed through the Klettgau region 200,000 years ago, left behind limestone deposits that regulate the water balance of the vines. It is no coincidence that Hallau produces such velvety and full-bodied wines. The winery was one of the first medium-sized companies in German-speaking Switzerland to receive IFS (International Featured Standard) quality certification. This enables the winery to offer various services of the highest standard in addition to its own brands. These include contract bottling and the production of customer brands. Thanks to the high level of wine expertise of the cellar team, whose skills are confirmed annually with several medals at wine competitions, the winery is also able to carry out various contract pressing orders. Among the products of Rimuss & Strada Wein AG, the traditional brands RIMUSS (sparkling grape juice) and the Hallau wine brand "Graf von Spiegelberg" ( for 60 years) are particularly popular. In addition to the classics, the company is constantly bringing new products to market, such as Rimuss FRESH in 2019, a low-calorie variety of the classic, and the sparkling wines Strada Brut and Extra Dry, made from local Pinot Noir grapes.
