Charlottenfels Rose Garden

Charlottenfels Rose Garden

Media

The approximately 300 square meter rose and peony garden was once magnificently laid out by the Swiss "rose father" Dietrich Woessner as a style and test garden. The roses were replanted by Rosenfreunde Schaffhausen in 2009. Just below the roses, over 90 different types of peony have been growing since 2014. Wild species, from which numerous varieties have been bred, grow right by the garden entrance. There are also ten varieties that were bred in Ticino by the Englishman Sir Peter Smithers, who died in 2006.
