In spring, shortly after the snow melts, thousands of snowdrops bloom in all their glory in the forest area of the Auenwald nature reserve.

Located north of Schleitheim, right on the German border, is one of Switzerland’s largest floodplain forests, which is listed in the Federal Inventory of Landscapes Worth Protecting. The Auenwald Nature Reserve lies directly on the Wutach River. The Wutach, which forms the border, has been renaturalized in recent years and is now largely free to carve its own course. This has created a unique, vast biotope with an incredibly diverse array of flora and fauna. A leisurely hiking trail winds through the unique landscape of Oberwiesen and Schleitheim, following the Wutach River to the “Seldenhalde.”
