Trotte Löhningen
Future-oriented winegrowing cooperative with a rich tradition
Media
Trotte Löhningen is a cooperative with a tradition dating back to 1951. David Walter took over the management of the business from his parents in 2019 at a young age. He brings a breath of fresh air to the cooperative and has taken over wine production. The grapes for the wine-growing cooperative come from Löhningen and the neighboring village Beringen. With expertise, idealism, and a deep connection to viticulture, the 28 winegrowers tend to their vines, mostly by hand.
A total of nine grape varieties are grown on around 11 hectares. The calcareous and shallow soils of the Randens produce a very special, nutmeg-accented, fruity, and elegant Riesling-Silvaner. For this reason, around 70% of the vineyards in Löhningen are planted with this variety. Löhningen is the white island in Pinot Noir area Schaffhausen Pinot Noir area. The powerful and full-bodied red wines thrive in the deeper soils towards Beringen.
