The monastery hospital was probably built in the 13th century. In the wake of political change, the hospital was transferred to the city in 1476 and subsequently underwent extensive expansion. The former Holy Spirit Hospital comprises five buildings grouped around a courtyard, reflecting its historical development from a medieval monastery hospital to a municipal hospital and finally to a poorhouse and orphanage.
The buildings were restored between 1999 and 2002 with the greatest possible preservation of the original structure and with great taste. Today, they house stylish meeting and event rooms for the city and the public, which are available for rent. The city archives, wheelchair-accessible apartments, and the tourist office are also located here.
