The Town Hall was built between 1539 and 1542. For a long time, it also served as a cloth, grain, and department store. It acquired its present appearance between 1898 and 1900. At that time, the market hall was closed, and the oriel windows and paintings were added. The historical paintings are by the history painter Carl von Häberlin from Stuttgart, and the coats of arms and figures are by Christian Schmidt from Zurich. In the Gothic Great Council Chamber, you can find, among other things, the famous collection of heraldic stained-glass windows from 1542 and a weapons collection from the 15th to 18th centuries. The City Council has met in the Small Council Chamber, which was furnished with gilded Rococo-style paneling in 1766, since 1542.

The Town Hall building and its collections cannot be visited at present.
