Hexenturm
The tower was built in the 14th century and wasthena corner tower of the city wall. Later, it was converted into a dungeon. The battlements were converted into a row of windows, and the tower was given a roof. The entrance on the north side was five meters above the ground.
The first documented witch trial in Stein am Rhein to 1512 against Anna Beringer. The last witch to be executed in Stein am Rhein was Stein am Rhein Albrecht in 1667. However, belief in witchcraft persisted for a long time. In 1783, the council conducted an investigation into four men who were suspected of sorcery and witchcraft but were acquitted. A total of 17 people were accused Stein am Rhein witchcraft and executed in Stein am Rhein .
Until around 1800, the tower was used as a prison.
