The Mohrenbrunnen used to be called the Schwertbrunnen. In 1535, the wooden fountain was replaced by a stone one. The column dates from 1520 and the Mohrenbrunnen was named after Kaspar, depicted as a Moor, the youngest of the Three Wise Men with a curved sword, gold goblet and shield. Affectionately known locally as "de Mohrejoggeli". This original fountain figure symbolizes the wealthy townsman.
