Four «Randentürme» (viewing towers)

Like beacon fires, the robust «Randentürme» (viewing towers) made of iron, steel, and partly wood, seem to majestically greet each other over the tops of the tallest trees and across dozens of kilometres of landscape. The highest of these observation platforms, scattered across the canton, is located in Merishausen. The Hagenturm, with its height of 40 metres and 225 steps, stands almost 1000 metres above sea level. Like its 'smaller' siblings in Beringen, Schleitheim, and Siblingen, it is not for those with a fear of heights. At the top, a fabulous panorama awaits, stretching from the Black Forest to the Alps.

Siblingen Randenturm

The Siblingen Randenturm is the smallest of the four «Randentürme» (viewing towers), yet its view is impressive. After 99 steps, a wide panorama opens up over Klettgau, the Black Forest, and the Alps. With a playground and barbecue area right by the tower, it is ideal for a pleasant family outing.

Hagenturm

The Hagenturm in Merishausen, at 40 meters, is the tallest of the four «Randentürme» (viewing towers). The viewing platform can be reached via more than 225 steps. Near the tower, various barbecue areas are available for a break on a pleasant hiking day.

Schleitheim Randenturm

The Schleitheim Randenturm has stood proudly on the Randen near Schleitheim since 1909. Those who climb the 100 steps are rewarded with views over the Black Forest, Hegau, and, during Föhn conditions, deep into the Alps. On fine weekends, the forest restaurant right by the tower offers simple food and drinks.

Beringer Randenturm

Above Beringen stands the Beringer Randenturm. The 26-meter-high observation tower was built in 1998 using steel truss construction. The viewing platform can be reached via 137 steps. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Klettgau and the Alps. At the Restaurant Beringer Randenturm, day-trippers and connoisseurs can indulge themselves.
